Exercise 9

Avg difficulty 2.5

Let f(x)=14x3+4f(x) = \frac{1}{4}x^3 + 4.

  1. Sketch a graph of y=f(x)y = f(x) and explain why ff is an invertible function.

  2. Let gg be the inverse of ff and determine a formula for gg.

  3. Compute f′(x)f'(x), g′(x)g'(x), f′(2)f'(2), and g′(6)g'(6). What is the special relationship between f′(2)f'(2) and g′(6)g'(6)? Why?
