Suppose that the following information is known about the functions ff, gg, x2x^2, and x3x^3:

  • ∫02f(x) dx=−3\int_0^2 f(x) \, dx = -3; ∫25f(x) dx=2\int_2^5 f(x) \, dx = 2

  • ∫02g(x) dx=4\int_0^2 g(x) \, dx = 4; ∫25g(x) dx=−1\int_2^5 g(x) \, dx = -1

  • ∫02x2 dx=83\int_0^2 x^2 \, dx = \frac{8}{3}; ∫25x2 dx=1173\int_2^5 x^2 \, dx = \frac{117}{3}

  • ∫02x3 dx=4\int_0^2 x^3 \, dx = 4; ∫25x3 dx=6094\int_2^5 x^3 \, dx = \frac{609}{4}

Use the provided information and the rules discussed in the preceding section to evaluate each of the following definite integrals.

  1. ∫52f(x) dx\int_5^2 f(x) \, dx

  2. ∫05g(x) dx\int_0^5 g(x) \, dx

  3. ∫05(f(x)+g(x)) dx\int_0^5 (f(x) + g(x))\, dx

  4. ∫25(3x2−4x3) dx\int_2^5 (3x^2 - 4x^3) \, dx

  5. ∫50(2x3−7g(x)) dx\int_5^0 (2x^3 - 7g(x)) \, dx
