Activity 9.7.3

Avg difficulty 2.5

Let P0=(1,2,−1)P_0 = (1,2,-1), P1=(1,0,−1)P_1 = (1, 0 ,-1), and P2=(0,1,3)P_2 = (0,1,3) and let pp be the plane containing P0P_0, P1P_1, and P2P_2.

  1. Determine the components of the vectors P0P1→\overrightarrow{P_0P_1} and P0P2→\overrightarrow{P_0P_2}.

  2. Find a normal vector n⃗\vn to pp.

  3. Find a scalar equation of pp.

  4. Consider a second plane qq with scalar equation −3(x−1)+4(y+3)+2(z−5)=0-3(x-1) + 4(y+3) + 2(z-5)=0. Find two different points on qq as well as a vector m⃗\vm that is normal to qq.

  5. What is the angle between planes pp and qq?
