Back to 30.3 Bohr’s Theory of the Hydrogen Atom

30.3 Exercise 24

Avg difficulty 2.5

Verify Equations rn=n2ZaBr_{n} = \frac{n^{2}}{Z} a_{\text{B}} and aB=h24π2mekqe2=0.529×10−10 ma_{B} = \frac{h^{2}}{\left(4 \pi\right)^{2} m_{e} \text{kq}_{e}^{2}} = \text{0}.\text{529} \times \text{10}^{- \text{10}} \text{ m} using the approach stated in the text. That is, equate the Coulomb and centripetal forces and then insert an expression for velocity from the condition for angular momentum quantization.
