Back to 3.3 Vector Addition and Subtraction: Analytical Methods

3.3 Exercise 11

Avg difficulty 2.5

Do the exercise again using analytical techniques and change the second leg of the walk to 25.0 m\text{25}.\text{0 m} straight south. (This is equivalent to subtracting B\mathbf{B} from A\mathbf{A} —that is, finding R′=A – B\textbf{R} ' = \textbf{A }–\textbf{ B}) (b) Repeat again, but now you first walk 25.0 m\text{25} . \text{0 m} north and then 18.0 m\text{18} . \text{0 m} east. (This is equivalent to subtract A\mathbf{A} from B\mathbf{B} —that is, to find A=B+C\mathbf{A} = \mathbf{B} + \mathbf{C}. Is that consistent with your result?)
