Exercise 4

Avg difficulty 2.5

Let C(x)C(x) denote the predicate “xx is in the correct place”, let E(x)E(x) denote “xx is in excellent condition”, and let T(x)T(x) denote “xx is a tool” where the domain of each predicate is the set of objects in a garage. Translate each into plain English:

  1. ∃x¬C(x)\exists x \neg C(x)
  2. ∃x(T(x)∧¬C(x))\exists x (T(x) \land \neg C(x))
  3. ∀x(T(x)→(C(x)∧E(x)))\forall x (T(x) \to (C(x) \land E(x)))
