Exercise 2

Avg difficulty 2.5

Provide a justification for your response to the following questions.

  1. Suppose you have a set of vectors v1,v2,…,vn\vvec_1,\vvec_2,\ldots,\vvec_n. Can you guarantee that 0\zerovec is in Span{v1 v2,…,vn}\laspan{\vvec_1\,\vvec_2,\ldots,\vvec_n}?

  2. Suppose that AA is an m×nm \times n matrix. Can you guarantee that the equation Ax=0A\xvec = \zerovec is consistent?

  3. What is Span{0,0,…,0}\laspan{\zerovec,\zerovec,\ldots,\zerovec}?
