Exercise 1

Avg difficulty 2.5

Consider the matrices A=[210−4−4321−3],B=[−230004204−6−12042−3]A = \left[\begin{array}{rrr} 2 & 1 & 0 \\ -4 & -4 & 3 \\ 2 & 1 & -3 \\ \end{array}\right], \qquad B = \left[\begin{array}{rrrr} -2 & 3 & 0 & 0 \\ 0 & 4 & 2 & 0 \\ 4 & -6 & -1 & 2 \\ 0 & 4 & 2 & -3 \\ \end{array}\right].

  1. Find the determinants of AA and BB using row operations.

  2. Now find the determinants of AA and BB using cofactor expansions to verify your results
