11.2 Exercise 13

Avg difficulty 2.5

Suppose the particles in the preceding problem have masses m1=0.10kg,m2=0.20kg,m3=0.30kg,m_{1} = 0.10 \text{kg}, m_{2} = 0.20 \text{kg}, m_{3} = 0.30 \text{kg}, m4=0.40kgm_{4} = 0.40 \text{kg}. The velocities of the particles are v1=2.0i^m/sv_{1} = 2.0 \hat{i} \text{m} / \text{s}, v2=(3.0i^−3.0j^)m/sv_{2} = \left(3.0 \hat{i} - 3.0 \hat{j}\right) \text{m} / \text{s}, v3=−1.5j^m/sv_{3} = −1.5 \hat{j} \text{m} / \text{s}, v4=−4.0i^m/sv_{4} = −4.0 \hat{i} \text{m} / \text{s}. (a) Calculate the angular momentum of each particle about the origin. (b) What is the total angular momentum of the four-particle system about the origin?
