2.4 Exercise 26

Avg difficulty 2.5

Show that when A→+B→=C→\overset{\rightarrow}{A} + \overset{\rightarrow}{B} = \overset{\rightarrow}{C}, then C2=A2+B2+2ABcosφC^{2} = A^{2} + B^{2} + 2 A B \text{cos} \varphi, where φ\varphi is the angle between vectors A→\overset{\rightarrow}{A} and B→\overset{\rightarrow}{B}.
