Diagonalization of real symmetric matrices

For each of the following symmetric matrices, find the eigenvalues, an orthonormal basis for each eigenspace, and then orthogonally diagonalize the matrix.

Prove the converse of Theorem 11.91: if a matrix $A$ is orthogonally diagonalizable, then $A$ is symmetric.
