Exercise 11

Avg difficulty 3.0

Consider the vector space R+\mathbb{R}^{+} where vector addition and scalar multiplication are not the ones inherited from R\mathbb{R} but rather are these: a+ba+b is the product of aa and bb, and r⋅ar\cdot a is the rr-th power of aa. (This was shown to be a vector space in an earlier exercise.) Verify that the natural logarithm map ln⁡ ⁣:R+→R\ln\colon\mathbb{R}^{+}\to\mathbb{R} is a homomorphism between these two spaces. Is it an isomorphism?
