10.6 Exercise 6

Avg difficulty 2.5

Show that the total energy released in the proton-proton chain is 26.7 MeV, considering the overall effect in 1H+1H→2H+e++ve^{1} \text{H} + ^{1} \text{H} \rightarrow ^{2} \text{H} + e^{+} + v_{\text{e}}, 1H+2H→3He+γ^{1} \text{H} + ^{2} \text{H} \rightarrow ^{3} \text{H} \text{e} + \gamma, and 3He+3He→4He+1H+1H^{3} \text{H} \text{e} + ^{3} \text{H} \text{e} \rightarrow ^{4} \text{H} \text{e} + ^{1} \text{H} + ^{1} \text{H}. Be sure to include the annihilation energy.
