Exercise 6

Avg difficulty 2.5

Suppose that AA is an n×nn\times n matrix.

  1. Suppose that A2=AAA^2 = AA is invertible with inverse BB. This means that A2B=AAB=IA^2B = AAB = I. Explain why AA must be invertible with inverse ABAB.

  2. Suppose that A100A^{100} is invertible with inverse BB. Explain why AA is invertible. What is A−1A^{-1} in terms of AA and BB?
