Avg difficulty 2.5

Provide a justification for your response to the following questions.

  1. Suppose that AA is a square matrix with two identical columns. Can AA be invertible?

  2. Suppose that AA is a square matrix with two identical rows. Can AA be invertible?

  3. Suppose that AA is an invertible matrix and that AB=ACAB = AC. Can you conclude that B=CB = C?

  4. Suppose that AA is an invertible n×nn\times n matrix. What can you say about the span of the columns of A−1A^{-1}?

  5. Suppose that AA is an invertible matrix and that BB is row equivalent to AA. Can you guarantee that BB is invertible?
